The Morning Show 12/19/2010

Thank God my mom cares abut my schooling.

She's been listening to me all semester about the now famous "iPad class." She recorded this clip cause she figured I'd like it and I just re-found it on the internet for you guys. I am so excited about it because it shows just how much attention publishing companies, marketing, and book sales are receiving. We aren't the only ones talking about this!

  1. This is really interesting. I don't think I'd ever thought that much about how much covers influence what people buy, but working in book store, I've seen it happen. I know that Penguin has recently been updating a lot of classic book covers, and when I saw them come in I started looking at these books that I never would have picked up had the cover not changed. For instance, the old cover of Bridget Jones's Diary has a picture of Renee Zellweger standing between Hugh Grant, and Colin Firth holding a diary. The new cover kind of looks like something from an old school tattoo artist, which made me pick it up and look at it. New Cover: http://www.bookchums.com/book-detail.php?b=MjY1Ng==

  2. Thats actually really cool cover art. I like it. It reminds me of the newer art on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

  4. I definitely see the similarities. The second one is so pretty! I wish that I could design book covers. What an awesome job.
